  • Netflix released a new version of their Xbox 360 app that came along with Xbox’s Holiday Update 2011 and I am not happy with what we received.
Netflix blogged how the new application was built from the ground up with all new features. But they didn’t mention how many others they took away in return, completely ruining the whole Netflix experience.
No more option to change the screen size
No more Xbox Live parties
Does not allow you to look for an episode before launching
Cluttered, slow and laggy UI
No restart option on episodes
Glitched fastforward/rewind
Slow browsing with remote
And so much more nightmare-inducing horrors
Netflix, ever heard the phrase “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? Exactly.
If you are a Netflix user who loves to watch movies on the Xbox 360, please reblog to get the word out there. Netflix is in a bad spot after a couple of past, bad decisions and I believe that if enough people complain, they will reconsider their action and perhaps give us the old Netflix app back. Please call, tweet, or post on Facebook about the horrible experience and let yourselves be heard.

  • No, no, no Xbox! You can’t just give Netflix Kinect, something we’ve been waiting for more than a year for with high anticipation, only to disappoint us with a crappy version that is slow and lags 100 percent of the time.

I admit I have been looking forward to this update for a long time now but not like this, not all crappy and bugged. It’s horrible.

And not just that, you also took away functionalities that made Xbox’s Netflix app great. How can you take widescreen mode off? I get it, you gave us subtitles (something we didn’t have) but you can’t take widescreen mode off. How am I suppose to enjoy old episodes of South Park now? We are in the widescreen age of Television.

Now give me my old Netflix back until you learn a proper way to give us what we want.

  • Things I like/dislike so far while playing Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

    Likes

    • Tower Defense-like mini game against templars trying to recapture districts.
    • Sofia Sartor (I just really, really like her character and passion for books)
    • The hookblade. That thing makes everything so much faster!
    • My parachute. I just love not falling off of buildings on accident anymore.
    • I get to play Altair!

    Dislikes

    • Lucy died… (maybe?)
    • The gameplay interface is too… simple. I liked Brotherhood’s design.
    • No Leonardo Da Vinci (yet?)

Not much else. So, the game = really, really good.

  • The Xbox 720 concept makes me think that in the future we will have some sort of wristwatch you wear in order to keep connected to your Xbox that will also have Kinect integration where you can tell it things to do when being away from the console or sensor. Wouldn’t it be amazing if it also included some sort of holographic technology? Imagine your Gamertag popping out and doing everything you told him to and that he could respond back.
Glad to see my imagination is still healthy at age 20.

  • Mondays Can Actually Be Good

I don’t understand why Microsoft loyalists and Apple fanboys/girls only narrow their focus unto one sole thing without even considering the other or actually giving it one chance to prove itself. Apple has a phenomenal, revolutionary idea that they are implementing slowly but surely. Microsoft has gigantic momentum behind them, trying to actively create “the future.” Both work fine in my eyes. But it’s not just them two, there are others as well like Amazon and Google.

I am an iPhone, iPad and iPod owner, but I’m also a PC user that prefers Google over Bing but loves Windows Live Messenger over MobileMe. I shop at Amazon, but I prefer iTunes for my music storage. I don’t deal in one realm when there are plenty to be enjoyed.

Today I managed to read over the WWDC conference online and watch the Microsoft Press conference on TV all at the same time. I won’t say it was easy, and I think I did miss a few things about each one, but I did it anyways. Microsoft blew my mind with the future of Kinect (that I own) and the possibilities it has in the future. Apple impressed me yet again with their incredible software update known as iOS 5 for iDevices (which I own, too) and I can’t get enough of both.

I find it incredibly stupid to like only one thing when you can like many, when you can indulge yourself in all types of features and possibilities without being prejudice about the rest. The world is filled with all kinds of chocolate bars, and you won’t see me eating only Hershey’s when I can have M&M, Crunch and Snickers; it’s just not possible, at least not for me.

Today was a good day not just for Apple but for Microsoft alike (maybe not for Amazon and Google; they kinda got shot in the foot by Apple, but it happens!) I’m gonna do a quick summary of what I liked about today.

    • iOS 5 and iCloud coming this Fall with a ton of features.
    • Future Kinect games look incredibly awesome.
    • I’m finally home for Summer break and I love my high speed internet.
    • I completely cleaned my laptop and it feels faster!
    • I got a free Redbox code via text; I’m gonna rent I Am Number Four!
    • My favorite YouTuber iJustine actually replied to one of my tweets while she was on TV at the Microsoft Press conference.

  • One of the reasons why Assassins Creed is one of my favorite games of all time is because of how Leonardo Da Vinci has influenced the series so much. I just love to learn the amazing facts from the architecture and sites of the 14th century, as well.
Just read a pretty interesting one while playing AC Revelations:

“In 1502, Sultan Bayezid II invited the famous Florentine Leonardo Da Vinci to submit a design for a bridge that would span a 250-meter wide section of the Golden Horn. Upon seeing Leonardo’s design, however, the Sultan felt the project was too ambitious and scrapped the idea. Four years later, Bayezid extended the same invitation to a young artist named Michelangelo. But Michelangelo—being an avowed rival of Da Vinci’s—refused the Sultan’s invitation outright, evidently incensed that Leonardo had been asked first.”

I never knew Michelangelo was Da Vinci’s declared rival—although the thought had crossed my mind at one point in time when comparing their pieces of art. This games simply fantastic.
