  • "Mithical" is a personal blog, which means you won't find a consistent amount of just one thing but a wide variety of content posted here ranging from personal posts, photography, quotes, illustrations, social media news and technology, along with a mix of things that signify certain traits about my personality or mood at the moment.

  • I was sick for most of last week, which had me laying in bed watching re-runs on Netflix and Hulu Plus. I stopped with my photography altogether, but I have decided to begin again even though I’m coughing like a dog.

After months of mulling, I took a shot at Trey Ratcliff’s Free HDR Tutorial. Got some of the necessary equipment (thanks for the coupons, Trey) and got to working. I probably chose the worst image to practice HDR on but it was night out and I didn’t have anything else in hand but this old, battered Kodak camera. The point of this was to learn the steps and for me to get the hang of the program so when I have an actual, HDR-workable image I could use it. I liked the process, loved the program. I need to get out there and find images that could work in this type of field.

  • Why photographers should stop complaining about copyright and embrace Pinterest.
Really interesting article. Although I don’t technically use it as a Photography outlet, it is a keen idea to keep. Proud to be one of the 3% of men on Pinterest!

  • Remember Tom from MySpace? Yeah, that Tom with the white shirt looking over his shoulders with a creepy smile that became your first friend ever on MySpace. Well, he has a Google+ account now and I’m following him. Never really liked MySpace, personally, but Tom is a pretty cool guy; someone to look up to, even. He sold MySpace before it died, so he still has plenty of money from the acquisition. He is smart. Very smart.
But enough about Tom. This post is about a photographer who Tom met and introduced to his Google+ followers. He took the picture above.
His name is Trey Ratcliff and he has some of the most magnificent HDR photos I’ve ever seen. I’ve always been fascinated by HDR Photography ever since it was introduced to the iPhone. Now, for someone to make a living and art out if it? That’s ingenious. Take a look at some of his photos on his website StuckInCustoms and experience the world as if you were actually there.
